Medline Aluminum Forearm Crutches

Recommended for long-term disability, these crutches are built tough for long-lasting performance yet boast features that provide welcome benefits for the patient. Vinyl- coated, tapered, contoured arm cuffs mold to user for extra comfort, while leg and forearm sections adjust independently for a custom fit. Contoured vinyl handgrips provide additional comfort and long wear. Pivoting cuff bracket is secured to a composite post for added durability. Plus, all telescoping parts are manufactured with internal bushings and external lock nuts to provide silent usage. 250-lb. weight capacity.

3 Stars Probably not best for long term use.
I’ve had these crutches for about a year. I only use one at a time, and I retired the first one about six months ago. I’ve had a problem with the bolt holes where the cuff attaches to the rest of the crutch; I depend heavily on the crutch for stability so with every step it bears weight outward, and with every step, I imagine, the bolt hole gets just a tiny bit larger, making the cuff floppier. At this point near the end of the second crutch’s life, the cuff will swing from side to side in an arc several inches wide. If the bolt hole could somehow be reinforced with metal that wasn’t so soft the product as a whole would be much more durable.

The tips lost their texture quickly, so if I have to walk on wet linoleum or something similar, the crutch is likely to slip. The poles are very well constructed, and the grip is quite comfortable. Even the cuff itself is well made; I always have the same problem with the rubber on the underside of the cuff wearing down to the metal underneath in time because of the way I rest the crutch on the edge of a table or counter, but this model wore considerably better than the last few I tried.

So, now the time has come to order new crutches, and I think I’ll be trying greener pastures for want of less floppy cuffs. If you only need crutches for a short period, these would probably be just fine, and the price is right.

5 Stars Keeps one from falling
I suddenly found myself unable to walk without support after having taken antibiotics that basically “killed” the tendons in my entire body. My knees were severely affected, and was unable to even move within the house. I got these to help me temporarily while my knees returned to normal.

I first found it difficult to change the length of them. I realised I needed to push the buttons in very well, and twist them at the same time. This enabled me to find the correct length for me. They are light, so they don’t slow you back when walking. The arm holders are nice because they move, so they are easy to lean on when standing while working with the hands. I did find that one of them are tighter than the other. which caused some issues while out and about and wearing thick winter coats.

For my use, they were just perfect. I used both for about a week, when I was fortunate enough to get better. I used just one for another week, and now these crutches are in my closet in the hope that they will not be used again. I find it assuring to have them available for when I need support, if that should happen.

4 Stars Nice crutches for the price
Somewhat heavy, probably because they are well constructed. Easy to adjust, they work well for my needs.
